It seems really odd that in an age of society were we have everything we could ever need or want, it appears that we still are in a state of lack. We want more, crave more and demand it easier and faster than ever before; food is no exception to this.

However, our demands have caused a problem. Where there is high demand there needs to be high supply, and manufacturers have maximised that to meet their need for profit. They have managed to manipulate us into a state of zombie like eating. The truth is we are not eating food anymore; we are eating food like products

These foods are adored. They are made to look better, smell better and sometimes even taste better. Sugar is in everything, cheap empty calories that cause us to become unknowingly unhealthy yet force us to go back for more and more to fulfil an uncontrollable quest for satisfaction.

On average Westerners’s eat 22 teaspoons of sugar per day. It’s the cocaine of the food world, and what makes it worse is that food manufactures secretly hide it in the food we eat and drink every day. Getting us more and more addicted to very high yet empty calorie diets.

It’s not your fault, as mammals we are programmed to find calories in food to put on fat whenever there is food available. This was based on 1000s of years ago when we were hunters and gatherers. We didn’t know where our food was going to come from, so when we found it, we consumed it and our bodies stored it, knowing that tomorrow we may not eat.

Today there is a plethora of food, yet our bodies still have the same hormonal triggers telling us to eat more, and store more. The result… obesity.

The thing with hunter gatherer types is that when researched, it was found that they had a very high amount of nutrition, but low calorie diets. Compared to our new age modern civilisation which has a very low nutrition but high calories.

The thing is, you can eat as many calories as you like, but if your body isn’t getting the nutrition it needs, you are actually starving your body of what it really needs. You’re not getting nutrition, you’re not giving your body the fuel it needs to thrive, repair and replenish.

You are literally starving yourself to death from lack of nutrients.

It’s kind of like pouring a bottle of coke into your cars gas tank and expecting it to drive the same. It might start, but it will splatter, chuddar, bang and eventually break down. Just like our bodies.

Lacking energy, always tired, poor completion, body fat, moodiness, all of these things are side effects of long term bad eating, and the lack of nutrients that goes along with it.

The solution is to start sourcing high nutrition low calorie foods.

The real secret to looking and feel amazing, have loads more energy and to melting fat, is to simply switch your attention from external methods like Botox and exercise and start using an inside out approach.

Traditional dieting is not the answer.

In fact, the word diet has been used to often in the wrong context. People see a diet as a lack of food, as in missing out.

The very moment you tell yourself you are on a diet, you brain will start to say to you the word “can’t”.

“I want that; but I can’t have it”.

If you switch your thinking to I CAN have it but don’t want it.

There is a massive paradigm shift.

Another simple shift is to think about a monkey.

If you put a human being in a zoo like you put a chimpanzee in a zoo, the question would be what do you feed it. We don’t feed chimpanzees kitkats, Mars bars and pizza we feed them a diet that they eat in their eco system.

Us humans’ kind of live in a zoo, but we are not feeding ourselves the food we are biologically adapted too.

By simply follow the steps of our ancestors and switching our eating from high calorie low nutrition diets to high nutrition low calorie diets, you are fuelling your body with the right resources it needs to become naturally healthy.

Start adding lots more green leafy vegetables, cucumbers, root based plants, seek natural plant based fats from avocado, chia seeds, salmon. Fill up on lean proteins like chicken, red meats and fish. Green smoothies like the one below are an amazing way to get more nutrition.

Cut back on sugar, a little is ok, but when you don’t watch it, the highly concentrated that is snuck into our foods is way more than you need and it turns to fat that you don’t want to see.

It’s not about having no carbs, no fat, no sugar, it’s about balance. Your body will love you for making the switch.

Of course often getting to an organic grocery store and filling up with an amazing range of health food, can be a challenge. We live in a time poor society, we have school, work, families and our social life to think about.

As much as making three of four super healthy balanced meals each day would be perfect, our modern lifestyles, don’t quite match that of our ancestors.

  • 2 cups of filtered water
  • 1 cup of coconut water (or double the filtered water)
  • 1 large bunch (5 heaping handfuls) of organic lacinato kale/regular kale
  • 1 large head of organic romaine
